Welcome to the Box Hill Miniature Railway, located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.
Surrounded by wonderful parkland and with steam, diesel and even solar powered trains to ride, there’s something for everyone from the young to the young at heart.
Our railway is run entirely by our members who volunteer their time to operate, maintain and improve the railway.
Come along to our next Public Running Day and experience this wonderful miniature railway for yourself.
Please note we currently require all tickets to be purchased online. The ticket office at our railway is closed and cannot accept cash or card payment for tickets. To avoid disappointment, we ask that you arrive well before your ticketed time as refunds will not be possible.
Public Running Days
The Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway is open to the public on the third Sunday of every month (second Sunday in December). Enjoy a journey through picturesque parkland behind one of our locomotives.
The railway is situated in beautiful Elgar Park in Mont Albert North, on the corner of Elgar and Belmore Roads in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. This is just minutes from the Eastern Freeway and close to public transport.
Always wanted your own train? We offer private bookings of trains and our undercover picnic area for functions. Perfect for children’s parties or a unique event that your guests are sure to remember.
What Our Visitors Say...
Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway is a must-do for little (and big) train fans! It’s cheap, old-fashioned fun, with lots to amuse toddlers nearby so you can make it a half-day adventure.
Tot Hot or Not
The ticket staff and Rotary ride volunteers were so friendly and welcoming. I noticed quite a few older riders so it’s not just for little kids! The whole experience was just great. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend this for a birthday party. We had my sons 2nd birthday party here and everyone had a great time. The volunteers that run the trains were very accommodating. We couldn’t be happier with the day.
